Dead Souls: A Darkwave Halloween

Halloween greetings to you on this chilly and cloudy day – at least here in Northern Ohio.

 

As promised yesterday in my first of two great Halloween playlists, I bring you installment #2 – a New Wave, Darkwave, Gothic and Industrial mixtape playlist for all of you children of the night!

This playlist does steal a few selections from my Grimly Fiendish Halloween mixtape from last year – but I did my best to keep them to a minimum and instead use the extended or dance remix versions.

No New Wave/Darkwave Halloween mixtape is complete without Bela Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus, Dead Man’s Party by Oingo Boingo, Everyday is Halloween by Ministry, or Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) by Concrete Blonde – all four make their encore in this list, with some extended versions and special cuts!

You’ll find a few obscure New Wave tunes like, Jack The Ripper by The Smiths and Bury Me by Sisters of Mercy, mixed with some well-known Halloween Darkwave faves like, Dead Souls by Joy Division (remade by Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy) and Lullaby by The Cure. I’ve also in mixed throughout this playlist a few gems by the Halloween sound effect music greats (and Cleveland locals!) Midnight Syndicate, and Nox Arcana, just to make sure the mood is properly set.

Time to get out the black lipstick and eyeliner, dress up in all black (and fit in for one day out of the year!), and party down with some of the best hauntingly brilliant tunes out there guaranteed to make this Halloween one of your best ever!
