Peace of mind can’t be bought…

I found treasure not where I thought Peace of mind can’t be bought Still I believe   Just hang on Suffer well Sometimes it’s hard It’s hard to tell   It is winter, but there is no snow – not yet at least. Usually it is the snow, with its cold, lingering drab and grey dullness that causes my mood to drop into a downward spiral. Not this year. While we’ve been blessed with many sunny days and warmer than usual temperatures so far this winter, my body and mind know…

Darkwave Battle Royale – Peter Murphy vs. Gary Numan

Friday December 4th, I went out to The Phantasy in Lakewood, OH once again for the latest installment of 9 of Clubs reunion night.  Three great DJ’s spinning a time warp vortex of the best 80’s and 90’s Goth, Industrial, House, New Wave and Darkwave music out there. Lots of Joy Division, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Thrill Kill Kult, Ministry, Front 242, and more.  It was by far the absolute best reunion night yet with music and attendance. I danced so much, I was sore the next day. Definitely…

Strangelove – A Depeche Mode Playlist

This post is a little overdue – by almost three weeks! My life has been crazy as of late, between work, moving, and organizing and promoting the first ever Punk Rock Flea Market in Lorain, Ohio that took place last weekend. The event was as success and I am able to breathe again. This (awesome amazing) night of music was DJ’d by Cleveland greats Tim Smith and Evan Nave….

Why Can’t I Be You? – A Cure playlist

I don’t go out to clubs as much as I used to, especially dance clubs. I find the music of today filled with so much auto-tuned and musical garbage. Even the Goth clubs are filled with this new trend of “dubstep”, which sounds like Transformers having sex. What’s worse are the younger generation Goth kids who chew on glow sticks and twirl LED balls and poi to the music. Yeah, ok, so I’ve become a cranky old Goth chick. In my defense, I’m an old school Goth or OG –…

World Goth Day – Dance the Ghost with Me

In honor of World Goth Day, which ironically is on Morrissey’s Birthday, I decided to put together a kick-ass Goth – Industrial – Dark Wave playlist.     These are the most memorable tunes I can remember hearing (and dancing to my heart’s content to) back in the late 1980’s to mid 1990’s at Northern Ohio area clubs like Spanky’s, Nine of Clubs, The Phantasy, Metropolis, The Whisky, Pocketts, and The Chamber. I cannot forget my all-time favorite club, down in Columbus, Mean Mr. Mustards! Oh how I miss that…
