Stars Don’t Shine Without You – World Goth Day 2016
Happy World Goth Day – and a very (Un)Happy Birthday to Morrissey!
Last year for World Goth Day, along with giving you a killer mixtape playlist, I wrote about not having a place to go and dance to the wonderful post-punk and Gothic Industrial classics I grew to love from the 80’s and 90’s.
Not the case anymore!
If you’re a regular follower of my blog, you already know I am more than elated that The Phantasy in Lakewood, Ohio has started hosting flashback nights at least once every other month – sometimes even more!
The Phantasy Nine of Clubs reunion nights feature some of the BEST classic underground Cleveland DJ’s like Tim Smith, Allyssa Allison, Guy Wires, D. JayExcess, and Debi. Plus The Chamber (sister club of The Phantasy, located downstairs) just celebrated their 20th anniversary with the DJ talents of Chamber regulars like Dark Nave (also lead singer of the band Lestat, who appears on the following playlist), Larry Szyms, Cable and Heretek! Another great DJ at The Chamber is Textbeak – who is spinning before and between acts with Post-Punk band Modern English at their Dallas show tonight (5/22/16). How cool is that?!
Needless to say, I’ve gotten my wish and can properly enjoy getting my Goth on once again. I thoroughly look forward to and enjoy these nights where I can be transported back in time to my more carefree days, and get lost in the music.
So to celebrate World Goth Day, here is a 65 song video mixtape playlist, filled with lots of Post-Punk, classic and newer Dark Wave, and Gothic Industrial songs guaranteed to satisfy the Goth in you!
