I Feel Like Dancing – House Mix
Ever since I went out dancing last weekend at The Phantasy in Lakewood, OH during their latest installment of “9 of Clubs Nite”, I’ve been in the mood for dancing. Sadly, the clubs of today do not cater to the awesome music of days gone by that makes me want to get up and dance.
I’ve often talked about opening my own club and catering to an older crowd, mostly my generation and those younger people who have old souls and know great retro music when they hear it. If money were no object, and I could find a great location, I’d love to do it. It wouldn’t be your typical dance club. I’d combine a dance club, concert venue and coffeehouse into an amazing and awesome new entertainment concept. Sadly, money is an object in this grand plan of mine. I am working on re-establishing my credit after a bankruptcy discharge in January of this year. Maybe in another year or so. I’ve had this dream for many years now and it’s not going away, so perhaps there is something to it.
Anyways, I digress.
I love to dance and I really love to make playlists that have great songs I remember from my long gone and terribly missed club girl days. I also miss being a DJ, granted it was in a strip club, but I did create some great music playlists while working there.
While actually being in a club and hearing these dance classics creates a vibe for dancing like none other, until I either find the funds and open my own club or I get to attend another awesome night of music from my favorite Cleveland club DJ’s of the late 80’s to mid-90’s, I have to settle for my dance music playlists.
The following playlist is my tribute to the “House Music” nights from great former Cleveland clubs like Nine of Clubs, Alter House, The Lift, The Whisky, Metropolis, Smart Bar, Aquilon, U4ia, Freak!… and the list goes on. Some of these great tunes often sneak their way into the “9 of Clubs Nite” at The Phantasy, immediately transporting me back to the carefree and sometimes crazy days of my late teens to mid-twenties.
Thanks to all the great DJ’s who spun their own great musical playlists night after night, giving me and so many others such great memories! This is the music of our lives.

Great work, gal. I love all of this. You did strip clubs, I did Gay Bars. The booth was our domain despite the activity.
Thanks! I wanted a cage put around my booth so no one could get in – I can’t tell you how many drunken stripper stories I have!
Awesome track list! Missing some Orbital, Chemical Brothers, and The Orb, though.. You had The Charlies on there, but no Happy Mondays? Dance = Hallelujah!!! 😉
I need to make a part 2 for this list…
YES! Please do!!
Was just missing The Alter House ca. 1991, DJ Mel last night had a Moody Mix that brought it all back to me. Your mix is fabulous! Where have all the good clubs gone, indeed!
