Nevermore: Samhain 2016

Autumn always shows us how absolutely beautiful it is to let things go.    To allow the wounds of the past fade into splashes of spectacular color. To finally let them die and float away in celebration of another year that has come to an end.  For some it is also time to reach up and out to prune off dead branches that hinder future growth. The other branches might have hidden them with new life and extensions around it, but the tree knows better – no need to feed those…

Summertime Sadness

Cleaning through my notes once again on my iPhone and iPad…  The following are snippets about love, lust, and relationships I made sure to jot down over the years, as to not lose the thoughts and possibly (someday) use them for writing prompts. I’m not one to let words go to waste, so consider this Meteorites Part II.  The title of this post is courtesy of the Lana Del Rey song, Summertime Sadness, which is very heartfelt and kinda my theme song these days. Also, the playlist that accompanies this post goes…

Distraction – Where is My Mind?

I have been a horrible blogger.   I went from at least one new post a week, to almost nothing. I feel awful about this. I have written, though, on my other website, Punk Rock Flea Market Lorain (PRFM Lorain).  So far it’s been a summer filled with lots of activity with building my business, getting the word out there about what PRFM Lorain is all about, plus the crazy chaos of my un-medicated mind. Stars Don’t Shine Without You – World Goth Day 2016

Happy World Goth Day – and a very (Un)Happy Birthday to Morrissey!      Last year for World Goth Day, along with giving you a killer mixtape playlist, I wrote about not having a place to go and dance to the wonderful post-punk and Gothic Industrial classics I grew to love from the 80’s and 90’s. Not the case anymore!  If you’re a regular follower of my blog, you already know I am more than elated that The Phantasy in Lakewood, Ohio has started hosting flashback nights at least once every other…

40 Years of Ramones!

It seems like just yesterday I was playing my records (secretly) in my bedroom on my funky little disco light turntable. Little did I know then, I would soon find a music and a culture that would fuel intense creativity and passion inside me.  Punk is officially 40 years old this year and it (nor myself) shows no signs of slowing down.  One of the greatest Punk bands to ever hit the airwaves were the Ramones from Queens, NY. The band formed in 1974 and got their start playing a…
