Songs strippers ruined for me
As you can tell from the title of the post, this is a mix tape playlist of songs ruined forever to me, thanks to working at the strip clubs. When I hear these songs, I am instantly transported back to the drama and chaos of my time served at the strip club.
I reveled in the days I had good playlists of music for the day shift. Monday and Tuesday were usually Classic Rock, Wednesday was 80’s-90’s day, Thursday was classic R&B & Motown day and Friday was a free for all day for the girls to pick the tunes. I always tried to play for the crowd we had – if it was an older crowd, like most of the time, I steered away from heavy rock and any rap.
The difference between day and night shift was definitely a case of night and day – between the music, girls and clientele. I referred to the night shift once, in a drunken state, as a “bad rap video” – and it was true. The girls had to do less for more money during the day and a hell of a lot more at night just to get enough for tip out and gas money – a vast difference in clientele for sure!
Some of these songs I either heard continuously while I was a house-mom or had to play several times a day when I was a DJ. It hurt to have my ears assaulted even for a few quick moments to put this mix tape playlist together.
It’s almost three years since I left that chaos for a calmer and more productive life, yet these songs still have memories associated with them – both good and bad – and they will remain forever tagged in my mind as “strip club songs.”
I’m sure I forgot a few, and I welcome the girls I used to work with to remind me of those songs! 😉
