I took a mini-vacation this past week and went on a road trip down to the Charleston, SC area to visit family. While on this get-away, I decided to take a side trip to Savannah, Georgia to spend the first day of Spring wandering the beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery, made famous by the 1997 movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I was completely awestruck once entering inside the gates.
Beautiful just doesn’t even begin to explain the solemn splendor of this famous southern cemetery. I didn’t even get through half of the 100-acres of this gorgeous place filled with outstanding monuments and relics of days long gone by.
However, I made sure to capture the magnificence of the parts I did visit, including the gravesite of the most prolific songwriter of the 20th century, Johnny Mercer.
These photos are just a small sample of the glorious wonders I saw while on my journey through the past. I hope you enjoy this small sampling of the historical Bonaventure Cemetery. Stay tuned for the complete gallery coming soon!
Make sure you click on the video below the gallery for one of Mercer’s most famous tunes, Moon River, from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s the perfect soundtrack for viewing these photos.
These and other photos will be available for purchase soon. Enjoy!
