One of my all-time favorite photographers is the incredible Anton Corbijn. I’ve been a fan of his work since the 1980’s. He’s well-known for photographing musicians such as U2, Joy Division, Henry Rollins, Nirvana, Depeche Mode (my favorite!), as well as directing some of their music videos.
Anton’s talent is amazing! He’s also been a big influence on my work, and this shoot below is in essence paying homage to his work.
The man featured in the photos that follow is a good friend of mine. BJ sang for a few of the local bands I used to go out and see back in the 1990’s. He’s now fronting the band Flannel – A Tribute to Grunge in the Cleveland, OH area.
When BJ and I started brainstorming on a shoot, it turned out we were on the same wave length – artists sometimes tend to do that. These photos are a result of our combined vision.
Total time for this shoot was about fifteen minutes. We laughed and talked the entire time, so it was very laid back. There was little to no direction – we were in sync – I love it when shoots go that way.
To view the entire shoot, and pics of the band in action, please go to LJ Photo on Facebook, and give the page a like while you’re there! Also, please go and check out Flannel’s Facebook page and give them a like, too!
Stay tuned for the entire band shoot! It’s going to be awesome!
